Becoming a Member
It is not necessary to take a qualification to become a member of the Institute. Anyone may join as an Affiliate member and, after two years of continuous membership, they are upgraded to Licentiate member, as long as they are at least 25 years of age and hold a health information, health record or related post.

Licentiate membership acknowledges skills and knowledge gained by the experiential route and Licentiates who are members of the Institute, are entitled to use the designatory letters LHRIM.

Student Membership
Student membership is available for those wishing to study for the professional qualifications of the Institute.

Commercial Affiliate
Commercial affiliate membership is available for organisations who wish to join the Institute. This option has been taken up by a number of hospitals in the private sector and by suppliers of health records related services and products.

Fellowships
Fellowships are awarded to those members who have made a significant contribution in the field of health records, information and management. Members so honoured are entitled to use the designatory letters FHRIM.

Direct Entry to Certificated Membership
This may be granted, on application, to professionals holding an equivalent qualification to the IHRIM Certificate (by examination)

Subscriptions are paid annually and become due on the anniversary of your joining date.
